With the beginning of a new academic year comes a return of a regular schedule of meetings here in our parish; Pastoral Council, School board, FF Board, Stewardship Committee and the parish staff, to name a few. The BeFrienders and the Health and Wellness Team, along with our Faith Community Nurses will make plans to continue to provide assistance, companionship and educational opportunities for our parishioners as they adjust to changes in their health and life styles. I look forward to another year of successful outreach here at St. Francis Xavier.
R.C.I.A. – The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
I also want to invite all parishioners to engage in inviting others to become members of our Catholic Church and I look forward to speaking with anyone who is interested in exploring Catholicism in the coming year. Our Church provides a great opportunity to grow in faith, come to know Jesus and both learn of and receive the sacraments. If anyone in our parish knows of someone who may be interested in becoming Catholic or a Catholic adult who may desire Confirmation, I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with them. Please invite them to give me a call for a personal one on one meeting to answer their questions and introduce them to the R.C.I.A process. The one on one meeting is an important first step as together we examine their faith journey thus far.
Although I do direct the R.C.I.A process here at St. Francis Xavier, it is the responsibility of all members of our parish, as baptized Christians, to evangelize or invite others to know Jesus Christ. Take some time in the coming weeks to think about who you might invite or perhaps you are a member of our parish who is married to a Catholic and not Catholic yourself. Take time to discern, ask God to be with you in taking the first steps to explore membership in the Catholic Church.
I look forward with great joy to working with adults of all ages. If you are thinking about this – it may be that God has placed it on your heart. I welcome the opportunity to share what we as members love about our Catholic faith and I invite you to give me a call:
I can promise you will be supported in your faith journey by a parish who welcomes the opportunity to pray with and for you and will be there to celebrate your becoming Catholic should you choose to do so.
