A Time to Love
May 31, 2019
Tis the season for graduations and weddings, anniversaries and retirements; occasions that hold great meaning for our loved ones and ourselves as we journey through life. Gathering with family and friends to mark milestones in life offers opportunity for us to be at our best, enjoying all the blessings we have received. God desires this for us, for God first loved us, that we might love others, enter into meaningful relationships with them and share the good times.
As we fill our calendars with all of these events, let us remember that without love and successful relationships, we would not be struggling to juggle our time and find room on our calendars. Love is at the heart of all our gatherings, whether here at Church for sacraments, rejoicing in a new birth, at our child’s or grandchild’s graduation or while celebrating wedding anniversaries or birthdays.
Jesus gathered with his friends for life celebrations too. In fact, his first miracle; the changing of the water into wine, took place at a wedding reception he was attending with his Mother. It is good for us to celebrate, whether at an elegant wedding reception or sitting around a campfire in the woods. So take time to have meaningful conversations, play, affirm others, laugh, dance, make memories and be grateful to God for these wonderful opportunities to grow in love with each other.
Go; enjoy all the celebrations that mark milestones and accomplishments in this life. Experience the joy that loving one another can bring!
