Each and every Advent, with the words of this familiar song we call for God to come among us. Emmanuel means “God with us” and we rejoice in the coming of the one who is to save the world. What an incredible plan God had, that he would reveal himself fully to us by sending his own Son to save us from our sins; the sins that threaten our relationship with a God who never ceases to draw us to himself. What an awesome gift; for our sins, when left to fester, have the potential to sever our relationship with God forever. God never wanted that for us. Rather, he sent Jesus as the ultimate gift! What more could a loving Father give to his children than to give himself fully and without reservation?! It is almost inconceivable the sacrifice God was willing to make to save us. How can we help but feel great gratitude to be loved that much?!
This week as we celebrate the birth of the Christ Child, let us take time to offer prayers of thanksgiving. As we gather with family and friends in our homes and at our church to sing glory and praise to our Lord, let us celebrate the greatest gift of love by sharing His love with others. Reach out this week, look around and identify ways that you can share the love of God; not in large and always visible ways, but in small acts of kindness to family, friends and stranger. What better gift could we give to God than to love others without reservation? Love boldly this week in celebration of the Birth of our Savior. Have a Blessed Christmas Day!
