Can you imagine being bold enough to ask Jesus personally to give you a seat at his right or left hand when you enter the kingdom of heaven?! Or should I ask; Can you imagine being so convinced of the gift of eternal life through Jesus, that you have no doubt about your place in heaven?! We are not gifted the presence of Jesus Christ in the flesh, so as to have conversation with him as his disciples James and John did when they asked Jesus outright to give them what they wanted. But we can in our lives and through prayer ask anything of Jesus and know by faith he hears us. How are you doing with your prayer life? How often do you have conversation with Jesus or God the Father, or the Holy Spirit? As baptized Christians, we must stay connected to God, nurturing our relationship on a daily, perhaps even hourly basis. Not for the sake of God, but for our sake; for our eternal life depends on it. Are you convinced through faith in Jesus that God has a place prepared for you in heaven? Is there any part of you that doubts that promise found in the Gospel of John: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and take you to myself, so that where I am, you also may be.” Beautiful words, filled with the hope and promise of eternal life with Jesus who is God; One and the same! Do you believe? Are you convinced? What, if anything causes doubt in your heart? If we believe, if we live as true disciples of God, if we ask for and accept the merciful love of God, we can be assured of our place in heaven; a place already prepared. What an awesome gift, given freely by our loving and forgiving God. We need only open our hearts, our minds, ourselves, to God to receive the gift of eternal life. We can remain strong in our faith only if we are willing to care for and nurture our relationship with God. God loves us enough to give us free will, so we do have the right to
choose to believe in Jesus Christ or reject him. Rejecting him takes the gift of eternal life away. Accepting Jesus Christ and living as his disciple ensures the gift of eternal life. But there is more. We must put our faith into action, showing love and compassion to all God’s people, using our God-given gifts to love and care for God’s people; recognizing Jesus in the face of each and every person. So: Pray to the Father, pray to the Son, pray to the Holy Spirit in whatever way you choose. Stay close, stand firm in your faith in Jesus for he is the Way, the Truth and the Life! Then you too, can be assured of the place God has prepared for you.
In shared faith,
He Would Love First!
