The Bread of Life – Food come down from heaven – True bread - All who eat will never hunger, all who drink will never thirst – This is my Body and my Blood – Take and eat, Take and drink. The Bread of Life discourse continues. And in our missalette a beautiful note in regard to the Eucharist from Pope Francis:
Entering Into Harmony with the Heart of Christ “The Eucharist is not a private prayer or a beautiful spiritual exercise. The Eucharist is Jesus himself who gives himself entirely to us. Nourishing ourselves of the “Bread of Life” means entering into harmony with the heart of Christ, assimilating his choices, his thoughts, his behavior. It means entering into a dynamism of love and becoming people of peace, people of forgiveness, of reconciliation, of sharing in solidarity.”
Pope Francis - Angelus Address, August 16, 2015
Pope Francis is calling us to a life in Christ that is not static in nature, but dynamic – moving, active, energetic, self motivating, full of life. He is calling us to live as disciples with joy and thanksgiving for the gift of the Eucharist, to share our love and our faith in Jesus Christ with others. He is calling us to be bearers of the Good News by our words and actions, to be as Christ to one another. Is your heart “in harmony” with the heart of Christ? Do you live according to the Word of God? Do you depend upon God the Father, through Jesus and the Holy Spirit, to guide you in life and give you strength to continue to grow in love that you might be the hands and feet of Christ in this world?
Let us as a People of God be fed by the “Bread of Life” that we might work together to bring peace to the world, to forgive our brothers and sisters, to reconcile our lives to our merciful God and that we might stand to protect, serve and love all people. How awesome would our world be if every person could come to know and love and serve one another as Christ!
Have a blessed week,
