Great Happenings at St. Francis Xavier
September 2, 2017
As we come to the first week of September the pace here at the parish picks up greatly. So much to do; our Catholic School students and staff are back for a new year of academics, our Faith Formation Team is in full swing planning curriculum, completing registrations and of course, recruiting volunteers to assist in teaching the faith to the young people of our parish. Pastoral Council, School Board, FF Board, Finance Committee,
Choirs, Youth Ministry Team and many other groups begin regularly scheduled meetings. And let’s not forget all the plans being made for our Parish Festival; Frantoberfest!
Did you know that 142 youth of our parish attended the
“End of Summer Bash”? They gathered on a very rainy Wednesday evening, but that did not dampen their spirit! The energy that was expended taking part in a variety of games and just having fun with friends was a joy to witness.
And so many adults, even those with no children at home, were there to assist and befriend our young people. The best part about the whole event was that it took place at “their church”! These gatherings are so important for our young people as they grow in relationship with one another and come to know that their parish is a place they can call home; a place where they are encouraged to share their gifts and grow in faith. Thanks to all who participated.
And there is more! I have included below an “Outreach Calendar” for those who are committed to or interested in being a part of groups like; BeFrienders, Health & Wellness Team and Bridges. I encourage you to come see what these groups are all about and explore whether you might want to become involved. Stop by on elf the schedules meetings to check us out or you may want to take part in the various events that these groups host. I will seep you informed via the “Outreach Calendar”.
· The Bridges group is offered to those in our parish who have experienced the loss of a spouse. It is very casual in nature, simply come as you are able and participate when you choose. The group meets about once a month, sometimes here at St. Francis and other times at a social event within our community. Watch the bulletin for details throughout the year.
· The Health & Wellness Team is a group committed to promoting good health, providing education, awareness and events that impact the wellness of mind, body and spirit. Watch for presentations, mini-health fairs and other offerings throughout the year.
· BeFrienders are individuals who are trained to be a “listening presence” to another who might benefit from having a trusted person they can talk to. There is a formal interview process and required training. Contact me at 252-1363 if you would like to learn more.
St. Francis Xavier is a vibrant and active Catholic community; one that its members can be proud to support and be part of. Let us continue our efforts to build relationships with one another while sharing our common faith in Jesus Christ and let us grow in faith and in number as we invite others to come to know St. Francis Xavier as their home. Together, let us ask God to bless our efforts as we work to build His Kingdom.
