We are an Easter People and Alleluia is our Song!
April 14, 2017
Did you hear what happened in Jerusalem?
Do you believe Jesus Christ is Risen from the dead?
Do you know now how much God loves you?
Then “Rejoice!” and be glad, for you are saved!
We have experienced the Paschal Mystery; the Life, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ and through our faith in Him we are assured that we will live eternally with God! This is the message of Easter and we, as Christians, are an Easter People!! If we do not believe that we have been saved, then Jesus dying on that cross means nothing. That was the whole purpose of his sacrifice. God sent his own Son to be sacrificed, to die and to overcome death, darkness and evil that we might be forgiven our sinfulness and be gifted with the assurance that God has prepared a place for each one of us. We must accept this gift of our salvation and the promise of eternal life with God. If God promises, how can we for a moment doubt our salvation?!
This does not in any way mean that we can breeze through life without a care doing what we want when we want it. No, we are disciples of Jesus Christ and it is through him that we attain eternal life. To be a disciple of Christ calls us to live as his disciple; to love all of God’s people, to show compassion and care for one another, to reach out to the poor, to accompany our brothers and sisters throughout the world in their struggles; we must be the hands and the feet and the heart of Christ to all people without judgment, without prejudice, with a heart filled with gratitude and love. Let us live our lives in such a way that others will recognize that we are a people of love and hope and faith. Let us share God’s incredible love through
acts of kindness and compassion. And let us reach out with the heart of an evangelist who can’t help but share the Good News of the Risen Christ. For indeed,
