We Begin Anew – Together!
Happy New Year! No, I did not turn too many pages on my calendar! Happy New Academic Year to all who are involved in education whether teachers, assistants, students or parents. It seems that the school year sets for society a rhythm of life very different from the leisurely days of summer (if there were some) as schedules fill with activities, meetings and added responsibilities. Even those who no longer have children in school are affected by the academic year as so many groups reunite.
The parking lot here at St. Francis Xavier is filled with cars and busses each morning bringing the smiling faces of children with new shoes and backpacks, ready to make new friends and grow in knowledge as they come eager to learn. It is a joy to witness the staff of St. Francis Xavier School as they welcome and embrace their students. We are blessed to have a Catholic School here and equally blessed by the dedicated staff that gifts their students with personal time and attention. Our school population is growing; this year we begin with 282 young souls – Thank you Jesus!
Soon, our Faith Formation classes will begin as we gather 600+ students in grades 1-10 and walk with them as they grow in faith through the building of relationships, the preparation and celebration of sacraments and continued learning about our call to become disciples of Christ and his Church. This particular ministry of our parish depends upon the generosity of YOU; members of our parish family, to come forward to assist, sharing your faith in Jesus Christ and his Church with our young people. There are so many and varied opportunities to use your gifts and your lived faith experience within the program. Take time to pray about how you can share your time, talent and faith story with
our young people and then please call Linda, Shelby or Melissa who will help you find your place in our Faith Formation program. You will be blessed in ways you cannot imagine as you too, grow in faith!
The academic year also begins regular meetings of Pastoral and Finance Councils, School Boards, Bible Studies, RCIA, and Outreach Ministries; BeFrienders, Health and Wellness Team, Bridges, Social Concerns Group, Christian Women, Knights of Columbus, Food Shelf Ministry, Prayer Blanket ministry, our Prayer Line and more. We are a vibrant and living faith community blessed by so many who come forth to share their gifts and talents. Let us pray together in thanksgiving to God for how he has blessed us and for the courage and strength to continue to participate in the building of the Kingdom of God here at St. Francis Xavier.
With joy and thanksgiving to God, Deb Rudolph
