How blessed are we!What a gift we have received in the Risen Christ!
He is Alive! Alleluia!
It is incredible to journey the three days of the Triduum as a people of God; to experience the array of emotions from Holy Thursday’s Mandatum and procession with the Blessed Sacrament to the Altar of Repose, followed by a day of somber silence as we remember the death of our Lord and venerate the cross upon which he died, to the anticipation of the New Light of Christ that begins the Easter Vigil, and finally to the triumphant Gloria as we sing praise and celebrate our Risen Lord. Indeed! We as members of the Catholic Church are blessed with rich and meaningful liturgy and ritual that draws us into the experience of the Paschal Mystery. I cannot imagine a need to gather on Easter if not to celebrate the Resurrection. We might want to remember in our prayer as we gather with our family and friends those of this world who do not have the opportunity to know Jesus Christ. Let us be mindful of our responsibility to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the world. That is the mission of the Catholic Church; to invite all to know, love and serve our Lord, Jesus Christ.
For seven weeks we will celebrate Easter and we will hear the beloved Gospels tell of how Jesus appeared to the Apostles, how he greeted them with “Peace be with you” even though they had denied knowing him, abandoned him and hid themselves for fear of what others might do to them because they were his followers. Let us not deny knowing Jesus Christ. Let us not abandon our faith in Him. Let us not keep to ourselves the knowledge of God and our salvation through Jesus. Rather, let us rejoice, let us live as an Easter people, forgiven of our sins and gifted with eternal life through the mercy and grace of God who loves beyond our imagining!
How will you and your family help others to know Jesus? It is not a tough question. You will bring others to know and love Jesus by the way you live out your Baptism in Christ.
Your actions, your words, your deeds and your attitudes will tell the world of the Good News. Begin today on this most glorious Easter Sunday to teach others by living and loving the way Jesus taught. And with grateful hearts, let us all Rejoice with joy in the Risen Christ, Happy Easter!
