“Bridges ” Re-Scheduled As many of you may already be aware, my Father passed away last week and as our family is actively grieving his loss I am reminded of the many thousands of God’s people who are grieving the loss of a loved one on any given day, whether the loss was recent or months or years ago the pain of grief can at times take our breath away. We often think of grief as an intimate, personal thing, but by God’s design, out of love for His people, the grieving are surrounded by family and friends, acquaintances, even strangers who offer condolences, prayers and many acts of kindness. It is truly beautiful how we care for one another and as one on the receiving end this past week, it is a blessing!
So as my family and I were celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial for my Father, I was not able to be present for what we planned to be the very first meeting of “Bridges” which invited all parish members who have lost a spouse, recently or long ago, an opportunity to gather and befriend one another. Let us put this back on the calendar and ask that God bless our plans so that as we gather and spend time together we will find comfort and renewed hope and joy in life.
“Bridges ” will meet immediately following 8:00 AM Mass on Thursday, October 8, in the South Room in Xavier Hall.
Please help spread the word to those among us who have experienced the death of their spouse. I realize that not everyone sees the bulletin weekly, so I would very much appreciate your assistance in reaching out to others. The refreshments will be readied and I will be there to greet and host you.
Thank you to so many who have offered their kindness to my family and me. I am convinced through faith in Jesus Christ that our loved ones who go before us await our homecoming. Let us pray that as we love one another on this earth, we gain that promise of eternal life with Jesus.
Blessings, Deb Rudolph
