“The community of believers was of one heart and one mind”
“Give thanks to the Lord for He is good”
“His mercy endures forever”
“Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is begotten of God”
“The Spirit is the one that testifies and the Spirit is truth”
“Peace be with you”
“Receive the Holy Spirit”
“.......do not be unbelieving, but believe”
“We have seen the Lord”
“Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed”
Even if taken out of context, the account of Jesus appearing to his disciples in the locked room on the evening of Easter, the words are not only the plain truth but they are so consoling.
We know that our Redeemer lives! Throughout the entire sad and somber season of Lent we were called again and again to confess our sins and to make amends in our lives.
But if somehow and in some way we were not as diligent as we might have been in our penance before Easter Sunday last week, God gives us another opportunity.
He is after all “the God of second chances.” Most likely the ham and the marshmallow “peeps” are all gone by now, but the spirit of the Resurrection should still be the light which leads us through this life on earth.
Let's keep it burning brightly all year long.
Peace, Deacon Steve
