Indeed it is and so let us prepare our heart for our Lenten Journey. Each year for Advent and for Lent St. Francis Xavier Parish offers to its members a small prayer/reflection booklet to assist in preparation for great celebrations in the Church. This week you will find that booklet entitled, “Daily Reflections for Lent: Not by Bread Alone.” Perhaps reading a portion of the Introduction will entice you to commit to daily prayer and reflection this Lent.
“We spend much of our lives in one desert or another; we travel through many wildernesses in the course of our days; terrifying, confusing, intimidating times and places when and where every move is a tentative step into the unknown.
Every Lent the Spirit of God that drove Jesus into the desert drives us into the desert of our hearts, into the wilderness within us where God dwells. The desert of our hearts is a silent place where God speaks to us of hope and encouragement; it is the quiet wood where we clear our heads to realize what is right and good; it is the bright vista that opens our eyes to realize the path we should take if we are to become people of justice and righteousness that we seek to become. In this Lenten springtime, the Spirit calls our souls into the desert in
order to discern what God calls us to make of the time we have been given, to re-center our lives with new hope and renewed vision as we continue our journey to the Easter promise.”
Pick up this booklet as a gift to you and your family. May it become your companion on the journey. May it bring you peace and joy as you prepare the welcome the Risen Christ this Easter.
May your Lenten Journey be Your Blessing,
He Would Love First!
