FRANTOBER FEST NEWS
Thanks to those who have picked up festival packets – many have returned their sold tickets already. Wow! Thanks again. Thanks for the general donations that are coming in for supporting the festival – those help offset many of the expenses we incur to make the festival happen – printing costs, advertising, tent rental, food costs and more. Thank you to those who continue to bring in items for the silent auction. There will be many great items to bid on soon! A big thank you to Dan Kurowski, Jake Schneider and Paul Trobec for heading up our Franny Food stand. Paul has several years of managing things under the festival food tent. Dan & Jake have shared their time in all kinds of parish activities over the years as well. Dan served as a general chairperson of the festival in the past and Jake helped chair the fish fry a couple years ago . . . . so, you can see it is in great hands. Other event/booth leaders are quietly working and getting prepared. Thank you. Rick Fleege chairs the Mouse Game and is in need of somebody to catch some wild mice just ahead of the event. (Yes, we use wild mice and they are returned to their habitat after the event.) Our past source for mice is not able to help us this year. If you are a good mouse catcher – get in touch with Rick (or the parish office). New this year for our festival since Dad’s Belgian Waffles is no longer around, is our own parish pancake and sausage breakfast. We will need helpers in the kitchen and probably a handful of people to share their electric griddles. We have 4 or 5 cast iron griddles that will work on the gas ranges in the kitchen, but we also need a several electric griddles going to keep up with demand. If you come with the griddle that’s the best, but you’ll be accepted either way – your time and kitchen talents or sharing a griddle. The KC’s did such a breakfast on Super Bowl Sunday of 2020 (just before Covid hit) and it was a blast! Most of the those guys are tied up in the food stand and beer stand Saturday night, so we are in need more of you (men and women) for food prep and serving. Contact Tom in the parish office (252-1363, ext. 405) with your offer to help. Registration continues for the Franny Flyer. If you are not up for running, many helpers are needed on the route to direct the runners. You will be wearing fashionable safety vests and asked to point the way and cheer on the runners. We have all kinds of great people in our parish that can fill those spots. Help is also needed stuffing packets and with registration/check-in on the Saturday morning of the race. Watch for sign-up sheets in the gathering place!

FRANTOBER FEST NEWS
A meeting is planned for Thursday, September 1st at 6:30pm to discuss some logistics for the parish festival set-up. We will meet in the gathering place and go through items such as space and set-up requirements along with any final needs for help. Remember this all takes place on Saturday, September 17th and Sunday, September 18th. There will be some set-up taking place from 3:00pm to 6:00pm on Friday, the 16th and on Saturday morning (the 17th), likely after the race and done by Noon or 1:00pm. Set-up is NOT a lot. We rent big tents, but we need to set up some tables and chairs and prepare a tent for grilling and preparing hamburgers/brats, etc. The children’s games and Cake Paddle areas are set up. There will also be a sports challenge area and the Mouse Game. On Saturday morning, the Franny Flyer takes place – kids run at 8:30am and the 5k/10k/1 mile at 9:00am. Register at Eventbrite.com – search Franny Flyer.
There is a special Mass time at 4:00pm to kick-off our festival with fun starting out on the grounds right after Mass. We have the following attractions/events to get ready for Saturday night outside: Food Stand (brats, burgers, hot dogs, pizza, condiment table), Beer Stand, Coca Cola products, Children’s Games(tickets?), Sports Challenge, Mouse Game, Cake Paddle, Raffle ticket booth, and Music Stage. Lily’s Wings will be here as well as Fun Time Ice Cream. Saturday night in the Gathering Place, the Silent Auction tables will be displaying items (actually starting Labor Day weekend), and we’ll have the Bake Sale and BINGO. There will be some tear down and clean-up Saturday night. On Sunday morning the Bake Sale Continues until all is gone. A pancake and sausage breakfast will be served from 9:00am to Noon in the school gym –– FREE Will offerings accepted. At Noon, the Silent Auction closes, and the Raffle tickets winners are drawn. Sunday morning, some tear down and clean-up will take place out on the grounds.
We will need help from many at various places and times, but most are just an hour or a couple hours. Please look at opportunities to share your time. There will be sign-up sheets in the gathering place and a Sign-up Genius that will be available on-line. Some of you may be recruited by friends. That’s how festivals work – with your help. Thank you, Tom

Parish festival packets are ready for pick-up in the gathering place. The funds raised from our festival help all ministries of our parish, so we count on the support of all of you to help by buying or selling the raffle tickets, making donations and helping by sharing time and talents in making the festival happen. Many parishioners and businesses have done this already by donating for the prizes, contributing to the silent auction, sponsoring the Franny Flyer, or making general donations for the festival. Thank you.
In the packet you will find more information and many other ways to give – straight cash gifts, prizes for BINGO, Bakes Sale items, Cake Paddle donations and more. The festival is September 17th & 18th, so it’s about a month away. Please see how you may be able to help. There is a list of events/activities that need helpers. Please contact the leaders listed with your offer to help. Most opportunities to help are for an hour or 2 or 3 on the weekend and there are opportunities for youth and adults. The Franny Flyer, BINGO and Food Stand on Saturday and the breakfast on Sunday morning will need the most help. Please say yes if you are called to help. In time there will be sign-up sheets in the gathering place and sign-up genius for those who like to look online. Our last full festival was in 2019. FrantoberFest 2022 will be a big comeback and it will be great because of YOU!

Most of the past donors to our parish raffle ticket have responded. Thank you! I will be reaching out to those I have not heard from as we want to get the ticket finalized for printing soon. We also have a couple new donors and a couple who have upped their donation. That helps because we have lost a couple donors of the past year because of deaths and moves. Contact Tom in the parish office(252-1363, ext. 1105) if you are thinking ofdonating.
Silent Auction items are trickling in. It’s early, but for chair people Candice Koopmeiners and Pam Banjac, it helps them with planning. Considering donating to the silent auction? Gift cards to local businesses (restaurants/ grocery stores/gas stations and more) work well. Those are things people use and this also supports the local businesses. Hand made furniture and crafts, hotel stays, children’s games/toys, televisions, video gaming systems, electric scooters, household appliances, tools, service certificates ( massages, hair cuts/styling, etc.), bicycles, tickets to events and other such items make great items for bidding. Call Candice at 654-1350 or Pam at 309-4735 if you have questions.
Here’s what is happening for the festival – it’s going to be the real deal this year. The raffle ticket should be ready before the end of July. The Silent Auction will start around Labor Day and will be open for two weeks up to Noon on Sunday, September 18th. The Franny Flyer run takes place on Saturday morning, September 17th. Mass moves to 4:00pm that Saturday and then the party on the grounds follow that from 5:00pm to 8:30pm. There will be food, beer, soft drinks, sports challenge, kids games, Mouse Game, and the cake paddle. In the gathering place the Bake Sale and BINGO will be taking place. Sunday morning Mass time is at 9:30am. There will be a breakfast in the school gym and the Bake Sale continues in the gathering place until items are gone. The Silent Auction ends at Noon – at the same time the Raffle Ticket winners will be drawn. Thanks to all who have donated. Thank you to those who are chairing activities. More helpers will be needed – watch for invitations for help. Our festival plans are coming together nicely. Please pray for a safe and successful 2022 Frantoberfest!

FALL FESTIVAL FUN –
It’s time to start looking ahead to our Fall Festival. There are several areas covered and plans are already shaping up, but it is good to gather to review progress and address questions. There are a couple of festival possibilities that would be nice to add if we can get volunteers. First is BINGO. This is tradition that would be nice to have. It would only need to take place from 5:30 to 7:30 on the night of the festival. The other attraction that is a Franny special is The Mouse Game. People who have been to our festival in the past are familiar with this. It is an outdoor event and, again, would only be about 2 hours. If you are interested in leading either of these, please call Tom in the parish office at 320-252-1363 or email tofferdahl@stfrancissartell.org.
Help needed!
Children games will run from 5 to 7. Looking at one shift unless I get lots of volunteers than two 1 hour shifts. Games being played 3 in a Row; Suspense game, Ring Toss, and Duck Pond
If you have artistic talent or want to be looking for artists for Face Painting. If interested in any of these please call Margaret at 320-249-9304.
NEEDED: Prizes for kids games; if you have some your kids have grown out of that are in decent condition or if you would like to buy something that would be helpful. Remember these would be little prizes nothing big! Have any of these donations to the church by August 1. If unsure give Margaret a call or text at 320-249-9304.
Frantoberfest is back!
Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 17th & Sunday, September 18th.
What we know so far . . .
The Silent Auction is in good hands with returning chair people – Pam & Boris Banjac and Candice Koopmeiners. Same thing with the Franny Flyer 5k/10k/1 mile walk and Children’s Run which starts off the weekend with the race taking place Saturday morning. Thank you Nick Novak. Saturday afternoon we will have Mass at 4:00pm with music, food and fun to follow . . .
OUTSIDE! The hamburger stand is back, beer will be poured, music will be playing and there will be activities for children and youth. Thank you to Margaret Stang (children’s games), Rick Fleege (youth), Jeff Eikmeier (beer), KC’s (food stand), and Mary Fasen (finance). Lily’s Wings (Steve & Kelli Ehlen) and Fun Time Ice Cream (Francis & Shikha Gomes) will be on site and selling food.
On Sunday morning, a Dad’s Belgian Waffle Breakfast is getting lined up and we will end the event with the closing of the Silent Auction at Noon and the raffle drawing. Are there opportunities for more? Probably. What do we need? More good people to step forward to help. We need prayers for good planning and the safety of all involved. We need donations for many things – silent auction, parish raffle, and more. Details will come out as the planning continues. Thank you to those who have said yes to helping make this happen. Many great things have been started. Please call Tom in the parish office (320-252- 1363, ext. 1105) or send him an email (tofferdahl@stfrancissartell.org) if you have ideas and/or want to help.
