Living in the Joy of the Resurrection
March 30, 2018
We know the story. We believe in the Life, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. We know that by God’s action and unconditional love we are saved and eternal life is our gift. Our sins are forgiven, our debt has been paid and we are gifted salvation by the grace of God! All of this we know through Jesus Christ, our Savior, our Teacher, our Brother, our Friend. So how then are we to live? How can we not live with gratitude? How can we not live in love with one another? How can we ever thank so generous a God who not only created us and gave us all we need, but then sacrificed his own Son that we might return to him to live eternally, sharing in his Glory!
On this Easter Sunday let us imagine our God embracing us and whispering “I love you more than you can imagine.” Then let us live in the joy of that message. Let us face the new day with joy in the Risen Lord and joy in our hearts for the love of God. Because we know the story and we understand the gift we have been given in being saved by the unselfish act of Jesus, we have a responsibility to live with joy and share the message of the Good News of the Risen Lord with the world; our family, our school community, our work community and with all of God’s people, including those we may never meet face to face.
How can we share the Good News?
Jesus gave us the answer: “Love God and Love Your Neighbor as Yourself.” Love is the answer. Love is the challenge. Let us take inventory this day as we celebrate the Risen Lord Jesus as to how we personally share the love of Christ each and every day. Let us place love as the highest priority in our lives, so that in loving we might become our best selves; that we might become the person God intended we be. Then in sharing that love we are sure to experience joy in new and unexpected ways. Let us live as an Easter people; saved, loved, called to love others. May our lives speak the joy of the Good News of the Risen Jesus Christ!
We are an Easter people. Let us go forth living the Joy of the Resurrection.
