And then there is LENT
February 10, 2018
This week we join Christians around the world who will gather on Ash Wednesday to begin the season of Lent. For six weeks we will walk with Jesus recalling his journey to the Cross. We will feel his pain and remember his fear and anxiety as he willingly accepts the burden of saving us from sin and death.
“God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.” John 3.16
This is the plan for our salvation. It is a gift from God who so deeply and unconditionally loves us. By his own Son dying to save us and rising again to new life, we are gifted eternal life with God. Let us not forget the incredible sacrifice of Jesus, our Teacher, our Brother and our Friend. May we all draw closer to Him in the coming weeks as we gather to pray and reflect, to reach out to the poor, to find silence in our lives and to engage in life-giving acts of kindness toward one another. As we fast, let us empty ourselves and make more room for Christ in our lives. Let us be deliberate in our thoughts, words and actions that we might truly live as Christians. Ash Wednesday Mass times: 9:00 am & 6:30 pm
