From the Principal, Linda Wilfahrt

January  2008

Dear Parents,

St. Francis Xavier Parish has enjoyed having an excellent preschool program for three and four year olds since the program began in 1990. Open to children of all faiths, St. Francis Xavier Preschool offers children the opportunity to:

learn about God’s love and basic Bible stories
develop a positive self-concept
learn respect, responsibility and cooperation
develop socially
learn new skills and improve skills already known
develop a sense of creativity
feel comfortable in group activities
develop a positive attitude towards school

An outline of a day in St. Francis Xavier Preschool begins with the teacher greeting children and talking with parents. Circle time includes calendar (learning the days of the week/months of the year,) helpers of the day, weather/seasons, songs, an introduction to the art project of the day, and sharing time. Work time includes new activities, an art project and activities around the classroom. This changes weekly if not daily! A second circle time focuses on the letter of the week, a review of the day and singing. The day includes a prayer before snack time, a story time and/or sharing bag and play time in the classroom or in the gym or outside.

Please note that a health form is included with the registration materials; the health form must be signed and returned before the first day of school in September.

Please take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about St. Francis Xavier Preschool by reviewing the enclosed information and registration materials.   If you have any questions about our program, would like to arrange a personal tour or meeting, or if you want to request additional information, please feel free to call (252-9940) or e-mail (lwilfahrt@stfrancissartell.org) me.
