May 14th to May 18th, 2012

We will be taking our 3rd, and final,  round of the MCAIII math tests on Monday, May 14th and Tuesday, May 15th.  Students were given 3 study guides to complete in preparation for this round of testing.

To help your child practice for the MCA tests go to the math games on our book's web site.

1. Type in megamath hit enter

2. Choose the first option: megamath-think central math-think central

3. Use theses games as review for the concepts on the test.

Students received a family invitation for the Farewell Mass and breakfast today.  Please RSVP to Mrs. Widnschitl on or before Friday, May 25th with the number of family members attending.

Our art trip to St. John's to finish our photography unit, set for Wednesday, May 16th, had to be moved due to an unexpected trip to the Middle School for music class.  So, we will be walking to WATAB  Park on Friday, May 11th to finish the photography class. Students will need to bring a digital camera and the USB connecting cord to school on this day.

A few students have been asking about what to wear for the Farewell Mass. This is a very special Mass and we ask that students dress and look their very best. When making their clothing choices, students should remember to follow the school Mass dress code (no shorts, sleeveless or “spaghetti” strap style tops,  or “flip-flops”).   Ladies: If your  dress is strapless or has ‘spaghetti’ style straps you will need to have a sweater or shawl to wear for Mass.   Gentlemen: Ideal dress would be nice ‘Docker’ style pants with a shirt that has a collar, like a dress or polo style shirt.  Due to the nature of the celebration, we respectfully request students do not wear jeans or t-shirts.

Prayer

"I need to be still and let God love me.

When this old world starts to push and shove me,  I need to be still and let God love me.

I need to relax and let God take over,  He'll take this load off my shoulder.

I need to relax and let God take over.

When there's trouble all around me and my soul cries for rest, When I feel like I'm failing even though I've done my best, When my load gets so heavy and there's answers that I need,

I need to be still and let God  love me."

Anon.

Expectations
“It takes a village to raise a child.”
Using this saying as a model for my classroom,  I would like to share  the  following list of expectations that you should have of me as your
child’s teacher.
 I will....

*Provide quality instruction with the inclusion of Catholic values and Church teaching.
*Maintain order and discipline in the classroom (Note: fair is not always equal).
*Contact you to report on your child’s progress.
*Notify you immediately if an emergency arises with your child.
*Use a combination of traditional and up to date progressive teaching methods.
*Do my best to meet the individual learning needs of your child.

Conversely,  as a parent, there are ways that you can help me better educate your child.
As parents I expect you to...

*Support school policies, classroom rules, teacher decisions, and volunteer or chaperon when possible (Note: fair is not always equal).
*Provide your child with the necessary supplies for learning (time to complete homework, schools supplies, gym shoes, winter clothing, lunch money...)
*Be present at teacher conferences, meetings, and significant occasions
in your child’s school life (fundraising events, concerts, programs, etc).
*Help with, but do not complete, your child’s homework, projects, and assignments.
*Provide up to date contact information in case of emergency.
*Contact me if there is a problem.
