Attendance with student participation, prayer services, daily religion classes, dedicated teachers, a committed parish and caring parents.
A dedicated group of teachers who stay updated in educational topics and practices through workshops and in-services. SFX enjoys the enthusiasm of young teachers and the guidance of experienced teachers. Our faculty includes three specialists in the areas of music, computer, and physical education.
St. Francis Xavier School is for students in preschool through sixth grade. Our kindergarten program is all day, every day program. The SFX preschool program is for three and four year olds.
In addition to a strong academic curriculum, religion classes are designed to educate students in the teachings and traditions of the Church. On standardized tests, SFX students score higher than local schools and at, or above national averages.
Students benefit from small class sizes. Our policy on class size limits enrollment to twenty students per teacher on those grade levels where there are two sections - a maximum of forty students per grade. If there is a grade level with only one section, the class may be as large as twenty-six before dividing into two sections.
The school calendar is sprinkled with extra activities, including field trips, theme days, Catholic Schools Week in late January and student assemblies and programs. Our teachers take students to plays, and each year the students in grades 2-6 have the opportunity to participate in a play directed by Prairie Fire Theater. Students have fun working with fellow students of different grade levels while developing their skill to perform before an audience and building their self-esteem. Extra opportunities also include Parochial Athletic Association (PAA) sport opportunities for parishioners in grades five and six for football, volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball.
Our school provides opportunities for parents to be actively involved in their child's/ren's education as they instill in their child/ren the importance of education and regular study and reading at home. Parents are also encouraged to volunteer in school during the day and/or help with special events organized by the Home & School Association.
Frequent communication with the faculty by note and phone is in addition to the weekly School Newsletter. SFX enjoys an open door policy; parents and guardians my call or visit the school office at any time with any idea, question or concern. You will always be greeted with hospitality.
Our school participates in the National School Lunch Program, the Federal Special Milk Program, and the Minnesota Kindergarten Milk Program. Students may purchase a meal prepared on site or bring a cold lunch.
Our school enjoys a good working relationship with the Sartell-St. Stephen School District. Qualifying students participate in Special Education, Title 1 and Speech programs offered through the public school district. SFX students ride the District buses to and from school; some students are delivered to KidStop after the school day.
